Why Work With Rob?
After selling my retail/e-commerce business in 2011 to Procter & Gamble, the world’s largest consumer goods company, I struggled to get back into the marketing world.Even though I’d just sold the business for a little over £1.1M - after taxes, accountant, fees, loans - you don’t keep that much, let’s put it that way.I had to keep working. And I wanted to keep working.I was itching to get back into my true passion, marketing.I’d just spent 5 years building a brand from scratch. One that recognised me with a UK ‘Entrepreneur of The Year’ finalist award. Didn’t win :(But most employers didn’t see that as ‘work experience’ and wouldn’t hire me.Fortunately, after many interviews, I landed a ‘Digital Marketing Managers’ job in 2014 and got to work implementing the latest digital strategies around paid media, websites/landing pages, A/B testing, writing effective sales copy and much more to drive lead generation.The business saw results almost immediately and grew qualified leads by 6.1X over a 4 month period.
Over the next 10 years, I went on to lead several global marketing teams - from as little as 2 people to 31 - whilst working in start-ups and large corporates, including the world’s largest bank, JPMorganChase, where I am Vice President of Marketing Strategy today.In the last 12 months, I’ve been invited to speak at the Chartered Institute of Marketing on ‘Marketing in AI and the Metaverse’. I’ve also partnered with Adobe on a white paper called ‘Marketing Automation in the Age of AI’.One of my greatest joys in life as a marketing leader is teaching and watching other people’s careers develop.Ask anyone who has been on my team, and I‘d like to think they’ll say I was passionate about their career development and spending as much time as possible with them to make sure they got the training they needed to move on to bigger and better things.This is also why I love guest lecturing at Glasgow Caledonian University every year on Digital Marketing to the final year Masters students.I just love teaching and helping people.Working with people who want help and recognise they need coaching or mentoring to develop their careers to go to the next level is a joy.Are you next?
